Woopsie

I used to use LJ ALL THE TIME.  I had three accounts.
Now it's been years since I've even looked at it - I don't even recognize the site any more.
What does this mean to you?  Probably not a whole lot - unless you've been trying to leave me messages on here.  I apologize for my lack of a response!  PLEASE - if you want to talk, chat, say hi - I will respond - but, uh...grab me on facebook, ne? ^_^  I don't even know how to check messages on this thing anymore... o.O

You can laugh at me if you want, but...

"Of course he wasn't interested in me, I thought angrily, my eyes stinging — a delayed
reaction to the onions. I wasn't interesting. And he was. Interesting… and brilliant… and
mysterious… and perfect… and beautiful… and possibly able to lift full-sized vans with
one hand."

I'm reading Twilight again.  What can I say...I like my vampire shoujo. ;)  The writing is...well...bad.  But the character development...is probably better than a lot of junk I've read in the past year or so.  And I have digital copies, so I can read at work and my boss doesn't mind, because I don't look completely bored out of my head and I don't have physical sign that I'm not doing work (because there is currently none to do.  We've had two layoffs so far...)

So Josh and I are seeing Spamalot for our 4th anniversary in New York this weekend. ^_^
The email exchange went something like this:

Josh:  "I don't have to use any PTO for the holidays.  Hah hah.  I get free days off."
Me: "Ugh.  So lucky.  *is insanely jealous*
Josh: Poor you.  *goes back to plotting*

Me: "Plotting...?  What are you plotting?"
Josh: "This weekend."
Me:  "What about this weekend?"
Josh:  "Right now?  How we're going to get to New York.  I can't read these stupid train schedules."
Me: "You want to go to New York this weekend?"
Josh: "Seeing as how I already bought the tickets, yes."
Me: "...you're crazy."
Me (about ten seconds later):  "Wait...what tickets?"
Josh: "Our tickets to Spamalot.  Happy Anniversary by the way.  That was hilarious."
Me:  "...you're still crazy."

Weekend Movies

We have a friend who works at a theater and because he is made of awesome, he let us is to see 3 movies back-to-back on Friday. :)

Wall-e: So full of cute it's hopeless! I loved this movie - so did everyone else. Saw it with Josh and Ua.
Wanted: Mmmm...action-tasty-goodness. Not a bad movie. And Angelina Jolie...yay! Didn't realize at first that it was supposed to be based on the Top Cow comic. Saw with Josh and Ua.
Brief interlude for a Wawa run.
Hancock: More action, less blood than Wanted. Still good despite recent reviews. It's not a super hero movie, but I knew that going in. Some interesting ideas, but too short. Things could really have been expanded on better. Saw with Josh, Ua, and Jess.

In other news we have a new couch. Ua actually fits on it. The other couch that Squeak and family gave to us fits nicely in the guest/craft/study/exercise room. It a nice and squishy couch - the perfect sit-on-your-ass-and-do-nothing couch. ^_^

Geek news

Jred just got a blue screen on his computer. The memory address referenced is something alone the lines of "0xDEADBEEF". Not kidding. It really says "dead beef."

The funniest part? That's a valid memory address/error coded into Windows as an Easter Egg.

Scam Email

This probably doesn't apply to anyone on my friends list, but I wanted to publish it here anyway - just in case it does or just in case someone else finds it.

My boss got an email this morning at work from "Reverend Bill Huffman" requesting 100,000 copies of a flyer. As some of you know, I work for a print shop and that is the kind of thing we print, so it was, despite being a grammatical mess, what we thought of as a legitimate request.

However, me being the eternal pessimist and realist noticed that the email had also gone to a web developer. Seemed a little strange, so I searched it. The whole thing is a scam. Someone made up the request in order to steal money (shock!) So below I have a copy of the email. It's a fake. Be warned! :)

Mike

I don't know if I should be the one posting this here, but I also don't want to sit around and say nothing. A close friend of mine, someone I lost contact with over the years, but have often missed, was recently diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. Some of you out there in LJ land know this person and I thought it was time you heard about it to, because:

we're asking everyone and anyone to help Mike and everyone else with ALS. This is a shameless plug, but it's my journal and I can do that.

http://www.alsphiladelphia.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=403&srcid=405&frsid=404

That link will allow you to help sponsor Mike, or even join in on the Walk to Defeat ALS.
